This privacy policy explains what information nawaman.net ("this site", "the blog") collects, why it is collected, and how it is used. The site is a personal blog operated by Nawapunth Manusitthipol. If you have any questions, contact nawa at nawaman dot net.

Who runs this site

The site is operated by Nawapunth Manusitthipol (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). It is a static website hosted on Google Firebase.

What we collect

1. Sign-in for commenting

To leave a comment you may sign in with Google, GitHub, or anonymously, using Firebase Authentication. When you sign in we receive a unique account identifier and, depending on the provider, your display name and avatar image. If you choose to provide your email address when signing in, it is stored privately and is not shown publicly.

2. Comments

When you post a comment, the following is stored and shown publicly alongside the comment: your display name, your avatar image, the comment text, and the time it was posted. Internally we also store your account identifier and the time of your last comment, which is used only to enforce rate limits and to moderate abuse.

3. Visit logging

To understand which posts are read, the site records a lightweight log entry when a page is viewed. Each entry may include: the page or post being viewed, the language/locale, the referring URL, your browser's user-agent string, and a server timestamp. If you are signed in, your account identifier, sign-in provider, and display name are attached to the entry. The site does not collect your IP address or geolocation.

4. Local browser storage

The site uses your browser's sessionStorage to avoid logging the same page view more than once per browsing session, and Firebase uses local storage to keep you signed in. This data stays in your browser.

How we use the information

• To display comments and associate them with their authors.
• To prevent spam and abuse (rate limiting and moderation).
• To understand which content is read (visit logging).
• To keep you signed in across pages.

Third-party services

This site relies on Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, and Hosting). Your use of sign-in is also subject to the privacy policies of the provider you choose:

Advertising and tracking

This site does not display third-party advertising and does not use cross-site advertising or tracking cookies.

Data retention

Comments and their associated data are retained as long as the post exists, unless you ask for them to be removed. Visit log entries are retained for analytics purposes.

Your choices and rights

You can browse the entire blog without signing in. If you would like a comment removed, or want to request deletion of data associated with your account, email nawa at nawaman dot net and it will be handled.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
